Absorption chillers from PRIMEHOLOD
Absorption chillers are energy-saving systems with increased refrigeration capacity. This is an optimal technical solution in case of high electric power cost or its deficiency The major source of energy for the cooling process is hot water or overheated steam, i.e. the energy that hasn’t been used before on the factory. The coolant is distilled water, and lithium bromide serves as an absorbent. The most efficient modern absorption chillers use water as a coolant and lithium bromide (LiBr) as an absorbent.
The major absorption cycle includes generator, condenser, evaporator and absorber with coolant and lithium bromide as work solutions. The coolant vapour (water) is emitted from the diluted solution of lithium bromide in the generator under the action of the heat source (burner, steam or hot water). Here the vapour is condensed into liquid, emitting the heat into environment during the condensation process. Then liquid coolant falls on the evaporator pipes, taking the heat away from the cooled water and evaporating again. The concentrated solution of lithium bromide is pumped into a generator, and the cycle repeats again. Chillers with such cycle are called single effect chillers.
One of the major advantages of absorption chillers is extremely low energy consumption. Thus, direct heating chillers with cooling efficiency about 1MW consumes only 15 kW of electric power!
